VEX VRC

VEX VRC (V5) is an international middle and high school robotics competition held from June to April where teams are given a new challenge annually and must build a robot which complies within VEX VRC’s constraints. Teams of middle and high school students work with their coachEs and mentors to design, build, and program a robot capable of competing in that season’s game. The robotics teams that consistently display exceptional mastery in all of these areas will eventually progress to the VEX Robotics World Championship.

VEX VRC (V5) teams utilizes the VEX V5 Construction and Control System. In this competition, teams design, build, and program robots to compete at tournaments. At tournaments, teams participate in qualifying matches where two randomly chosen alliances of two teams each compete for the highest team ranking. Before the Elimination Rounds, the top-ranking teams choose their permanent alliance partners, starting with the highest ranked team and continuing until the alliance capacity for the tournament is reached. The new alliances then compete in an elimination bracket, and the top two alliances in the bracket qualify for the State Competition.

Winners of the State competitions will have the OPPORTUNITY to compete in the VEX Robotics world championship held in different places on the mainland Us.

The Kamehameha Schools-Kapalama robotics program was founded in 2008. Two years later, we started to compete in VEX VRC and have competed in competitions since then. we have also competed in an international tournament in Tokyo, Japan in 2019. We will continue to compete in competitions in Hawaii, nationally, and around the world for years to come.

Watch the video on the right to see our 2019 robotics season. We will be updating with content from more recent competitions.

The Kamehameha robowarriors robotics team believes in the philosophy that robots meant for COMPETITION should be built by students only. As a result, all of our competition robots are HAND BUILT by students. Our robotics coaches and mentors are always there to support us when the team needs help; however, they never touch the robot to help assemble it.
